We have a few updates for you as we approach the mid-point of the spring semester.

District Calendar: The Faculty Association met with the District recently to discuss details of the proposed calendars for the 2018-2019 and 2019-2020 school years. The District just emailed everyone a digital copy of the two proposed calendars. They will also put a hard copy in your box by the end of the week. Some key points regarding the two calendars include:

Calendar A:
• School starts August 8 (Staff workday scheduled August 6 and Staff Development day August 7)
• Full week for Thanksgiving Break
• 2018-2019: 12 school days between Thanksgiving Break and start of Finals; 2019-2020: 7 school days between Thanksgiving Break and start of Finals
• No minimum day before Winter Break (grades due by the following Monday)
• Does not align with the Santa Maria-Bonita School District’s schedule

Calendar B:
• School starts August 13 (2018-19) and August 12 (2019-20)
• Full week for Thanksgiving Break
• 2018-2019: 17 school days between Thanksgiving Break and start of Finals; 2019-2020: 12 school days between Thanksgiving Break and start of Finals
• No minimum day before Winter Break (grades due by the following Monday)
• Aligns with the Santa Maria-Bonita School District’s schedule

The Faculty Association will conduct a poll, starting tomorrow morning, to get your input on which option you prefer. The poll will end on Monday. This poll will be taken online with Simply Voting.

Negotiations: After meeting with the District February 15, the Negotiating Team is preparing for the next negotiations session, scheduled for March 21.

LCAP Steering Committee: Thank you to those who were able to complete the survey. The information and input were very helpful for the certificated members who attended the annual District Steering Committee meeting.

Site Representatives: We have been holding monthly Site Representative meetings. Andrew Oman of CTA has been providing mini-trainings on various aspects of being a Site Representative.
