This semester has been moving right along. I have been doing what I can to flow right with it but have found myself to be unsuccessful at times. I hope that you are doing better than I in navigating through the 2021-2022 school.
As we approach the second grading period, I have a few things to mention.
2022 Spring Elections
Our Spring elections will be starting soon. In the next few weeks, you should receive an email from our new Election Chair, Dutch Van Patten.
The Faculty Association is in possession of District proposed school calendars for the next three years. We are not in agreement with the District on a few changes they are proposing, and the FA has sent a letter to the District respectfully demanding to bargain these changes. In the meantime, the FA would like to conduct a survey to get your opinion on a few topics. I hope to have the survey go out in the next few days and I will send you more information at that time.
As many of you are aware, the bell schedule for the 2022-2023 school year has been altered due to decisions made by the California Legislature. Senate Bill 328 was signed by Gavin Newsom back in 2019 and will start with the 2022-2023 school year. We have had numerous discussions with the district regarding possible solutions to this “problem”, yet no ideas have proven to be helpful in meeting the requirements of the new law. At this time, the Bell Schedule for the 2022-2023 school year can be found in Appendix E in the back of the contract. I also attached it to this email.
The Faculty Association has not had a Staff Social in the past few years due to COVID restrictions. We are in the process of trying to set one up for the end of this school year. More to come.
