Faculty Association members,

We hope this update finds you back into the school-year routine. We have been busy working for you in various areas:

Negotiations Update:
Our current contract expires on June 15, 2018. Our negotiations team has begun the process of negotiating a new contract with the District. Based on the results of the online survey that was sent out to all members a few weeks ago, the FA’s Bargaining Team “sunshined” (made public) articles 2, 4, 6, 11, 15 and 16 of the contract for negotiations with the District for the contract that hopefully will begin July 2018. On October 11, the District and the FA Negotiating Team met to discuss ground rules for the up and coming negotiations. The first official negotiating session is set for November 15.

Per our ratified 2017-18 contract, your 1% off-schedule (one-time) bonus will be reflected in your October 31 paycheck.

CTA is sponsoring a Student Loan Forgiveness Workshop on November 7 at the CTA office in Santa Maria. An email with all the details was sent out recently. The deadline to RSVP for the workshop is October 30, and reservations need to be made online through Survey Monkey (the link is on the flyer). This is the only workshop that will be held on the Central Coast, so you are encouraged to attend if you have outstanding student loans.

The state-mandated ALICE training deadline has been extended to November 1 due to technical difficulties with the website that hosts the training. You should have received an email recently with updated information. Please contact Director of Student Services Peter Flores (ext. 4207) at the District Office with any questions regarding this training program.

Thank you to the members who accepted nominations for School Site Council and/or the Shared Decision-Making committee at their respective school sites. Elections committee chair Jose Pereyra has sent emails to the respective sites with updated information.

A number of teachers are being assigned tutors from various programs (CAL-SOAP, etc.). If you are assigned a tutor but do not require his or her assistance, please contact LCFF Task Force Coordinator Steve Molina (ext. 4214) at the District Office, and he will find another assignment for the tutor.

The Executive Board is preparing for nominations and elections for site representatives at each school site. Information about the nomination and elections process will be sent out soon.
